Johann Makovez (um 1750 - 1806)
Quartet for horn, 2 violins and bassoon
The horn player Jan Makovez, born in Bohemia, was taught by Punto in Paris. He was playing the second horn in the orchestra of Esterhazy 1781/82 with Haydn. From 1786 he was employed at the court of Prussia. His name has been written in different versions as Mackowetzky, Makovecky und Makowetz.
This Quartetto pour Cor, 2 Violons et Basson is dedicated to Prince Regnant de Lobkowitz and was published about 1790 in Leipzig by Breitkopf and Hartel.
