About the biography (1770 - 1839)
This Quartet in E minor, which is presented here in the first edition has as source a copy of the Berlin State Library - Prussian Cultural Heritage, Department of Music of Mendelssohn-Archiv.
The edition contains the original part of the horn in E and a part in F.
Schneider is a 1807 collection of his works for the Dictionary of Musicians of Gerber to have several quartets composed for this ensemble, the Quartet present could have heard it.
