This horn concerto by Rosetti survives only in a print by the Paris publisher Pleyel (c. 1796/97), where it is titled "Quatrieme Concerto pour le cor". However, no other prints of Rosetti's horn concertos are known from Pleyel. The publisher may be referring to the editions issued by Le Menu et Boyer around 1782, which were numbered 1–3.
Rosetti's Concerto RWV C50 was probably composed for a second horn player, as it makes use of all the "tricks" of the second horn, including low notes and rapid leaps into the low register.
