3 Grand Quartets for Horn, Violin, Viola and Basso
Unfortunately, little is known about the biography of the horn player A. Corret. From 1815 to 1862 he served as principal horn at the Grand Théâtre in Rouen. He may have studied horn in Paris beforehand, since Louis-François Dauprat dedicated to him his Fifth Horn Concerto — probably his most virtuosic (ROM 155). A fire in the Rouen theatre archive in 1876 destroyed many valuable records, almost certainly including material on A. Corret.
His "3 Grands Quatuors" were self-published by Corret in Rouen and are dedicated to Monsieur Jean Lambert Fils. The quartets were composed for the valveless natural horn and are set in the keys of F, E and E-flat.
