Little is known about the life of the horn player Antoine Buch. The only surviving reference appears in Gerber's music lexicon:
"Buch (…) a German concert horn player and composer in the orchestra of the great Opéra in Paris, had his work engraved there in 1788: III Quartetti a Corno primo, V., A. et B. Op. 1 Paris"
The quartets were dedicated to the horn player Jean Lebrun (1759–1809), who would later become principal horn in Berlin. Lebrun had studied the horn under Giovanni Punto and Jean Joseph Rodolphe (Rudolphe).
In 1796 Antoine Buch is listed as a teacher at the Paris Conservatoire:
Cors 1ers – Duvernoy, Buch, Simrock
Cors 2es – Domnich, Kenn, Schwendt

1795–1802 Professeur 2e Classe – MM Buch
Buch appears to have left the Conservatoire in 1802, during the reform that reduced the size of the teaching staff.
