Charles Fleury
3 Quartets for Horn, Violin, Viola and Cello
Charles Fleury was born in Lille in 1771. He served as principal horn player at the theatre in Lyon, where he died in 1825. More information can be found here.
The three quartets presented here bear the following title on the original print:
"Trois Quatuors concertants pour Cor, Violin, Viola et Basso / Composés et Dédiés à Monsieur Marcel Bodin / par Charles Fleury / Premier Cor du Grand Théâtre de Lyon"
The work was apparently self-published by Fleury around 1800. His twelve quartets for four horns (edited as ROM 415) had appeared considerably earlier — also self-published — at a time when Fleury had not yet taken up his position as principal horn in Lyon.
