Heinrich Proch
(1809–1878)

Heinrich Proch (born 22 July 1809 in Vienna; died 18 December 1878 in Vienna) initially studied law before training as a violinist in his native city. From 1834 to 1867 he was a member of the Vienna Court Orchestra (Hofmusikkapelle) and also served as Kapellmeister at the Theater in der Josefstadt from 1837 to 1840. From 1840 to 1870 he held the position of first Kapellmeister at the Theater am Kärntnertor (later the Court Opera). He composed numerous operas, orchestral works and more than 200 songs. As a respected singing teacher, his pupils included Amalie Materna. He also gained recognition as a translator of opera librettos.
This new edition is based on the original print published by Diabelli in Vienna.
The vocal range extends from c' to e'' (sounding pitch).
