was born in Strasbourg on 18 April 1759 and died in Paris in April 1823. A pupil of F. X. Richter and of the cellist Dumonchau, he moved to Paris in 1783, where he worked as a teacher, composer, and freelance musician. From 1790 onward his compositions were published on a regular basis. Widerkehr became famous above all as a composer of instrumental music; his symphonies concertantes for wind instruments in particular were highly praised.
Trios for Flute, Horn and Bassoon – Trio No. 3 in E-flat major
The trios for flute, horn and bassoon presented here were composed around 1820 and first published in Paris by Boieldieu jeune. Both in their layout and in their compositional execution, they show parallels to the style-defining wind quintets of Anton Reicha (1770–1836), which appeared in Paris around the same time.
