Concerto No. 3 in D major for Horn, 2 Violins, Viola and Basso
First edition
More about the horn player Willem Spandau (1741–1806) can be found at french-horn.net.
This Concerto ROM 387 for horn in D major is taken from a manuscript copy in the music collection of Count Clam-Gallas. It is now held under the shelfmark XLII-A-9 at the National Museum in Prague (Czech Museum of Music).
To identify it unambiguously, the concerto has been numbered No. 3 for this edition. It appears to have been composed considerably earlier than the two Paris prints, probably around 1770. The horn part lies mainly in the clarino register, so the work is not comparable to Concertos No. 1 and 2.
For this first edition, the horn part has additionally been edited in F, as well as a corno da caccia part in B-flat.
