This concerto for 2 horns has been edited from a copy of the autograph. The autograph was destroyed in 1944, during the Second World War, in the fire at the Darmstadt library. It can be assumed that this work is one of the compositions Schneider himself performed around 1808 on his concert tours with the horn player Bötticher.
