"Un moto di gioia" – Act II, Scene II from "The Marriage of Figaro" – K. 579
arranged for soprano, flute, oboe, clarinet, horn & bassoon
Mozart composed this aria in 1789 specifically for a Vienna revival of "The Marriage of Figaro." It replaced the original Susanna aria "Venite, inginocchiatevi," in which Susanna dresses the page Cherubino as a girl to deceive the Count. The new setting was written for Adriana Ferrarese del Bene, the singer then taking on the role of Susanna, whose voice Mozart felt it suited better.
