This horn concerto of Rosetti is now also thoroughly revised in a new edition, after the almost 30 year old edition of KaWe. The quantitative result is 23 measures more in the first movement and 17 measures more in the second movement.
Rosetti's concerto was composed before 1782 and was published in 1783 in Paris by "Le menu et Boyer" saying: Troisieme /Concerto /Pour le Cor /Composé / par / A. Rosetti
The both concertos before this third concerto (as said by Boyer) are horn concerto number C 49 and C 52. Now this concerto C 41 is in some parts similar to C 52, which was also very helpful for the new edition because of some printing mistakes in Boyer.
In a way interesting is the fact that the second and third movement of C 41 are identical with Rosetti's concerto for flute C 19. This was composed between 1773 and 1776 and was published by Hummel in Berlin. However, it can not be said for sure which of the concertos was the first one. Untypical for the flute concerto is the key e flat major. It could be assumed that this concerto was also dedicated to the horn player Thürrschmidt as well as the concerto C 49.
