This four-movement work was composed around 1787. The scoring for three horns, rather than the usual two, already points to hunting imagery, as does the title of the fourth movement, "a la chasse". Around the same time, Antonio Rosetti and Paul Wineberger composed similarly scored works for their respective courts.
