Joseph Rudolf Lewy (1802 - 1881) was 1st hornist in the k.k. court opera orchestra in Vienna of 1822 - 1837 . As of 1837 it changed to the Dresden court chapel as a 1st hornist. It played a part as a forerunner of the valve horn. Numerous compositions for horn are, to which traditional by it one concertino, 12 études and a. belongs.
