Elegie an Sie op. 1 (Elegy for Her) for Solo Voice with Piano and Horn
Carl Lewy was born in 1823 in Lausanne. His father was the celebrated horn virtuoso Eduard Constantin Lewy (1796–1846), who lived in Vienna and took part in the premiere of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. He also toured with his sons Carl and Richard: Carl played the piano, while his younger brother played the horn. Two of these concerts took place in Leipzig, in 1838 and 1843 (the special programme can be viewed here). "Elegie an Sie" was first published by Tobias Haslinger in Vienna and is dedicated to Franz Liszt.
